At Wildpines Art, we believe that conservation is deeply connected to the wellbeing and aspirations of communities living alongside forests and wildlife. The Pardhi community has a long-standing relationship with forests, rooted in generations of traditional knowledge, skills and an intimate understanding of the natural world. This relationship is an important part of their cultural heritage and deserves recognition and respect.

Through Wildpines Art, we are working with members of the Pardhi community to equip them with new skills and create meaningful livelihood opportunities. As they learn the art of hand-block printing, we hope to build on their existing creativity and abilities, helping them develop a craft that can open up new avenues for income. By supporting and promoting their work, we aim to connect their creations with a wider audience and create opportunities for their skills to be valued.

We believe that communities are not merely stakeholders in conservation; they are essential partners in protecting forests and wildlife. The Pardhi community's historical relationship with forests offers an important perspective on the connection between people and nature. Conservation must recognise this relationship, create opportunities for communities to participate meaningfully, and ensure that they too benefit from the efforts to protect the natural world.

 

 Our endeavour is to use art and enterprise to support the Pardhi community, while recognising that lasting conservation is possible only when the aspirations, knowledge and wellbeing of local communities are part of the journey.
